First light Is Now Live at Western Sydney Airport

Zafire has launched First light at Western Sydney Airport (WSA), supporting the first official Qantas Freight flight from Australia’s newest international airport.

Qantas Freight is using First light to operate the Freight Terminal’s Flight Information Display System (FIDS). The screens provide accurate, real-time flight information, giving operational teams the visibility they need to coordinate activity and respond quickly as airport operations begin.

The deployment shows how a modern airport information platform can support a new terminal launch while providing the capacity to grow with future operational requirements.

A Cloud-Based Digital Signage Platform for Airports

First light is more than a conventional FIDS solution. It is a cloud-based Airport Information Management Platform that gives airports one system for managing and distributing operational and passenger information.

With First light, airport teams can:

  • Manage multiple displays from one centralized database
  • Create, edit, and publish content through a web-based interface
  • Combine live flight information with announcements, branding, advertising, images, and video
  • Monitor display status, performance, and system communications remotely
  • Access and manage airport information through a web browser or mobile device

This approach gives airport, airline, and ground operations teams consistent access to the information they need. It also allows airports to deliver useful passenger communications and dynamic content across terminals and operational areas.

Built for Modern Airport Operations

First light supports smart display technology without the need for a dedicated external PC at every screen. This can reduce installation work, hardware requirements, maintenance effort, and energy consumption. The platform also supports high-quality displays designed for continuous airport operations.

As part of Zafire’s cloud-based aviation software portfolio, First light helps airports and airlines manage information more efficiently, improve operational visibility, and proFvide a better experience for passengers and staff.

Zafire’s solutions are deployed across more than 300 airports worldwide, supporting airlines, airports, and aviation organizations with scalable operational technology.

Delivered Through Strong Collaboration

The Western Sydney Airport deployment was completed through the combined efforts of the Zafire support team. Their coordination and commitment helped deliver First light within a demanding implementation timeframe.

Zafire also congratulates the Western Sydney Airport and Qantas Freight teams on this important operational milestone. We look forward to supporting their continued development as activity at the airport expands.

Modernize Your Airport Information Displays

First light supports new terminal openings, FIDS upgrades, and airport digital signage projects. Its flexible, cloud-based architecture gives operational teams one platform for accurate, real-time information across every connected display.
